North Texas Tex-Mex restaurant opening another location in North Richland Hills

North Richland Hills is getting $2 margarita Tuesdays.

The 41-year-old Tex-Mex favorite Blue Goose Cantina is opening its first location in North Richland Hills, in the old Enchiladas Ole building off North Tarrant Parkway. This is the eighth Blue Goose location in all.

Blue Goose first opened in 1984 on Lower Greenville in Dallas. Though the original storefront closed in 2023, the restaurant still has locations open in Highland Village, Frisco, Plano, McKinney, Grapevine, Grand Prairie and Fort Worth. The Fort Worth spot is located in University Park Village at 1612 S. University Drive.

The cantina is known for its strong margaritas and daily, freshly-made tortillas. They also have specials daily like $2 marg Tuesdays, $3 marg and queso Thursdays, all-day happy hour Mondays and weekend brunch $5 mimosas and Bloody Marys.

Their newest restaurant is slated to open in North Richland Hills this winter. Here’s what to know.

What is Blue Goose Cantina known for?

Blue Goose Cantina is known for its margaritas and fajitas with homemade flour tortillas.

However, it’s become a fan favorite because of unmatched happy hour deals. Blue Goose offers a happy hour Monday through Friday from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. that includes discounted drinks and select appetizers.

On top of that, they also offer daily specials:

  • Monday: all-day happy hour. 
  • Tuesday: $2 margaritas– rocks or frozen.
  • Wednesday: $5 La Flaca Skinny margaritas. 
  • Thursday: $3 margaritas rocks or frozen, well drinks and queso. 
  • Saturday and Sunday: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. $5 mimosas and Bloody Marys.

Blue Goose Cantina menu highlights

While Blue Goose is known for its fajitas, the restaurant also serves nachos, tacos, enchiladas and quesadillas. Pork and chicken tamales are available for lunch combos until supplies last.

Here are a few menu highlights:

  • Fajita quesadillas: fajita meat of choice (chicken, steak or combo) with green chiles wrapped in homemade tortilla and cheese.
  • Bacon-wrapped shrimp (lunch menu): shrimp stuffed with cheese and jalapeno wrapped in bacon atop spanish rice.
  • Fajita nachos: fajita meat of choice (chicken, steak or combo) with refried beans and cheese on tortilla rounds.
  • Goose eggs: Fried jalapenos stuffed with chicken and cheese.
  • In addition to chicken and steak fajitas, Blue Goose also has jumbo shrimp (option for bacon wrapped), pork medallions and veggie options.
  • Birriaquesa tacos: corn tortillas with cheese and birria beef served with consomme
  • Carne Asada and Huevos (brunch menu): mesquite steak with two eggs and brunch potatoes.
