This Bedford sandwich shop is having a ‘grand closing week.’ Here’s what to know
Colossal Sandwich Shop in Bedford announced on Facebook Monday, Sept. 22 they are closing for good once items run out this week.
“Unfortunately, due to ongoing health struggles, unexpected circumstances, and the immense pressure that comes with running a small business, we’ve reached the point where we can no longer continue,” the sandwich shop’s owners wrote in the Facebook post. “We are devastated. We are grieving. Our hearts are broken.”
Former hotel chefs Jonathan Merril and Terry Duncan opened Colossal Sandwich in 2020 at 1220 Airport Freeway in Bedford. The shop was noted as one of Yelp’s top 100 restaurants by user reviews in Texas.
“The Italian grinder is the size of a truck tailpipe. A muffuletta would easily feed four,” noted a past Star-Telegram article. “There’s also a hefty pulled pork sandwich with jalapeno slaw and spicy barbecue sauce, along with a Cuban, a cheesesteak, a Reuben and a triple-decker club that could feed four, among others.”
Dozens of Facebook comments were left from customers who were very sad to hear that Colossal was closing. Here’s what to know before they go.
