‘Pay what you can’: Fort Worth locals love this restaurant with no set prices

Each week, we’re sharing Fort Worth-area restaurant recommendations that come from our very own Star-Telegram readers.

These aren’t necessarily well-known establishments. They are neighborhood “hidden gems,” family-run eateries that have built a loyal following among locals who’ve discovered them in Fort Worth or our suburbs.

Do you have a restaurant recommendation? Use the form at the bottom of this page (or click here) to send it our way. We especially love hearing what you suggest ordering on the menu.

What readers recommend about Taste Community Kitchen:

“It’s my favorite because everybody is treated with respect and dignity for a great meal. I highly recommend the smashed burger with the special hand broken fried potatoes!”

“The food is always excellent, and the menu changes every season. But wait! There’s more! You only pay what you can afford! No prices on the menu! It’s a restaurant that has great food and an even greater mission to serve the community!”

What else to know: Taste Community Kitchen opened in 2017 as the heart of the Taste Project, a nonprofit founded with a mission to “feed, educate and serve our community.” The space is designed to be welcoming to all, regardless of financial means. Unlike traditional restaurants, Taste operates on a pay-what-you-can model. There are no prices on the menu—guests are invited to 1) pay what they can afford, 2) pay what they would at a similar restaurant, or 3) pay a little extra to help someone else. See the menu.
