This North Texas Hooters location just closed after 24 years. See where others are open

Three Texas Hooters locations, one of which was a 24-year-old North Texas location, closed on June 4.

The Texas locations that closed are in Grapevine, Houston and San Marcos. The Grapevine location opened in 2001. The Instagram and Facebook pages for the Grapevine location no longer exist, and the Hooters website does not show the Grapevine, Houston or San Marcos locations.

USA TODAY reported in April 2025 that Hooters had more than 300 locations– 151 owned and operated by Hooters Inc. and a separate 154 operated by franchisees. More than 70 Hooters locations have shut down since June 2024, including some in Fort Worth and Arlington. The company told USA Today that the closures were “a difficult decision.”

Hooters of America filed for bankruptcy on March 31, 2025. They said in a press release that restaurants “are not impacted by the chapter 11 process and will continue to be operated by the Company’s franchise and license partners.”

However, less than three months later, 30 company-owned locations across 12 states closed.

Hooters bankruptcy

Hooters of America is known for its beer, chicken wings and waitresses who wear skimpy outfits. The company opened their first location in Clearwater, Fla. in 1983.

Hooters filed for bankruptcy in March of this year to address its $376 million in debt. This is the only time they have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Hooters said in a news release it intends to sell its 151 corporate-owned restaurants to a group of franchisees who own and operate 30 percent of the domestic Hooters locations.

According to the same press release, they plan to “emerge from chapter 11 in approximately 90-120 days.” The earliest date from their filing date would be June 29; 120 days would be July 29.
