Matthew McConaughey, Woody Harrelson’s new Texas-set show to premiere this fall
Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson’s new Texas-set series will release later this year.
“Brothers” began filming in Austin in March 2025 and wrapped that fall after pausing production in mid-June when showrunner David West Read exited the project due to creative differences. Shorty after Read’s departure, Lee Eisenberg came on board as showrunner.
The Apple TV comedy series is loosely inspired on the pair’s actual friendship that has been ongoing for nearly three decades.
In a recent interview with Deadline, Harrelson confirmed that “Brothers” will premiere in the fall.

“Brothers” sees Harrelson and McConaughey play fictionalized versions of themselves.
The gist of the show sees Harrelson come to Texas, with his bus, to hang out with McConaughey on his ranch.
“And once the bus is inside the gates of his ranch, it’s not going to go anywhere. That was the concept, and that’s what we’ve done for the first eight episodes,” Harrelson told Deadline.
Harrelson noted that the show will also hit on the viral rumor that McConaughey and Harrelson may actually be real-life brothers.
The duo first met in 1997 and have worked together several times since, including in “EDtv,” “Surfer Dude” and “True Detective.”
“We’ve had a lot of fun together. Yeah, I love him. I love him like a brother, for sure,” Harrelson said.
