Fort Worth school appears in series premiere of Beth and Rip’s ‘Dutton Ranch’
“Yellowstone” spinoff “Dutton Ranch” filmed its first season all around North Texas.
The Paramount+ show follows Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler on a new adventure in the fictional South Texas town of Rio Paloma. Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser reprise their “Yellowstone” roles, along with Finn Little as their adopted son Carter.
Several Fort Worth and other North Texas locations appear in the “Dutton Ranch” season 1 premiere. There are also a few nods to Texas-based businesses throughout.
Here’s a look at all the locations and references featured in season 1, episode 1, “The Untold Want,” which premiered on Friday, May 15 on Paramount+ and the Paramount Network.

Cactus Ropes
At 23:50, Rip (Hauser) and Azul (J.R. Villarreal) stop at a feed store.
Azul is wearing a hat from Cactus Ropes, which is rope making company located in Pleasanton, Texas.
Mineral Wells gas station
At 24:54, Rip and Azul stop for gas.
This was filmed at a Tommy’s gas station in Mineral Wells at 4766 Farm-to-Market Road 1195.
Kimes Ranch
At 27:30, Carter (Finn Little) eats lunch at school.
Carter is wearing a hat from Kimes Ranch, which is headquartered in Arizona but has a storefront in the Fort Worth Stockyards.
Edwards Ranch
At 28:40, Beth (Kelly Reilly) meets Beulah (Annette Bening) at her office.
Beulah tells her that she bought the Edwards Ranch, which Beth says has been renamed the Dutton Ranch.
While this ranch is fictional, there was a family-owned Edwards Ranch in Fort Worth that spanned 7,000 acres. Founded in 1848, the land has since been developed into neighborhoods and commercial developments, including The Shops at Clearfork.
Roughnecks
At 31:07, Beth stops for a drink at Split Heart Bar.
This was filmed at Roughnecks, an actual bar and grill in Rio Vista (103 Depot St.). The venue is hosting a watch party for the series premiere Friday.
E.M. Daggett Middle School
At 37:17, Carter leaves high school for the day.
While set at Rio Paloma High School, this was filmed at Fort Worth’s E.M. Daggett Middle School (1108 Carlock St.).
King Street Productions paid Fort Worth ISD $33,100 for access to the property across eight days, according to rental agreement obtained by the Star-Telegram through a public information request. The production company was specifically approved to use the school’s auditorium, locker rooms, gym, cafeteria, parking lots, front of the school and Room 101.
