Texas singer gets a four-chair turn on ‘The Voice.’ Watch his performance

A Texas singer blew away the coaches of “The Voice” this week with his performance of an Adele song.

College Station native Aiden Ross, 20, sang “Love in the Dark” on Monday’s season 28 premiere to showers of praise from the likes of Reba McEntire, Snoop Dogg, Niall Horan and Michael Bublé.

It only took 14 seconds for Snoop Dogg to turn his chair around, which is the signifier that the coach wants to add the performer to their team. Bublé followed suit a couple seconds later, then McEntire at the 21-second mark and Horan right after.

“What planet are you from?” asked Horan after the performance ended.

“Texas,” Ross, a Texas A&M sophomore, said.

After the performance ended, Horan was the first to chime saying that Ross made the Adele song his own and it was “literally like you’d written the thing.”

Next up was McEntire, who said Ross’ performance was “mesmerizing.” Bublé pitched Ross on joining his team as he’s good at helping choose songs and working with performers.

Snoop Dogg was the final coach to speak, calling the Texan, “That’s Aiden Ross the boss.” The rapper went on to praise Ross’ voice and spirit.

After some thought, Ross made his decision.

“I’m gonna have to go with Niall,” Ross told the crowd.

With Ross on Horan’s team, the next steps will be filling out the rest of the squad and moving into the battle rounds against the other singers and teams.

“The Voice” airs on Mondays and Tuesdays on NBC.
