Texas has two of the best outdoor water parks in the country, says this list

It’s already getting hot in North Texas, and it’s only going to get hotter.

Luckily, USA Today ranked the top 10 best outdoor water parks in the U.S. for 2025 to help folks find a place to cool down. Two of the parks, including the winner, are located in Texas. The votes were based on reader’s votes and USA Today’s panel of experts.

For 2025, Splashway Waterpark is USA Today’s No 1 choice for the best outdoor water park for the second year in a row. Aquatica in San Antonio is the other Texas spot on the list, coming in at No. 10.

USA Today’s best water park in the country: Splashway Waterpark

Splashway Waterpark in Sheridan is practically the only thing in the 37-square mile town of Sheridan. Voters picked it for its large lazy river and winding slides. The park also offers camping and RV parking for those who want to make it more than just a day-long trip.

In 2024, USA Today readers voted Splashway in Sheridan as No. 1 and Schlitterbahn in New Braunfels ranked close behind.

  • Located at 5211 Main St. in Sheridan– about a 4-hour road trip from Fort Worth

  • Operates from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, except for Sundays which are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

No. 10: Aquatica in San Antonio

Aquatica is a part of Sea World San Antonio. USA Today readers chose this destination because of its unique stingray lazy river experience, wave pool and vertical drop slides. The park also has sandy beaches with private cabanas.

  • Open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily starting May 23; currently only open Friday through Sunday
