WATCH: Local track star 'breaks' national triple jump record
Mansfield Lake Ridge junior Jasmine Moore was looking to defend her 5A state title in the triple jump during Friday's UIL state track and field meet at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas.
Moore successfully defended her title and then some, recording a jump of 45 feet and 4.75 inches.
The score was good enough for a state and national record, but the UIL announced that the wind reading was too high to make it official.
Moore, who runs a leg of both of the Lake Ridge girls 4x100 and 4x200 relays, each top-seeded entering state, also won her third-straight state title in the long jump Friday.
