Brock and Keller Central standouts win basketball players of the week
Nearly 20,000 votes were cast for dfwVarsity girls and boys basketball players of the week for games from Feb. 12-17.
Brock senior Mia Cherry won the girls voting (7,420). The Oklahoma Baptist commit scored a team-high 15 points in the Eagles bi-district win over Paradise. The Eagles are still in, playing in the 3A Region I tournament this weekend.
Cherry beat out Arlington Bowie's MaLay McQueen (5,267) who averaged 14 points through the first two round vs. Abilene and El Paso Pebble Hills. The Volunteers play Duncanville in the 6A Region I tourney on Friday in Fort Worth.
Keller sophomore Claire Reynolds came in third after scoring 10 points off the bench in the bi-district win vs. Arlington Martin.
Keller Central sophomore Latrell Jossell won the boys voting after he scored a game-high 25 points as the Chargers beat Fossil Ridge to clinch the second seed in 3-6A.
Burleson Centennial junior Anthony Hunter and Justin Northwest junior Sammie Freeman came in second and third place.
