TCU's Amy Okonkwo earns Big 12 award
TCU women's basketball player Amy Okonkwo was named the Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year on Wednesday.
The junior averaged 15.4 points and 5.8 rebounds coming off the bench for the Horned Frogs.
Okonkwo was also named to the All-Big 12 second team. She's the second TCU women's player to win an individual award in the Big 12. Chelsea Prince was named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year in 2015.
Jordan Moore and Kianna Ray both earned All-Big 12 honorable mention. It's the second time TCU has had three players earn All-Big 12 honors. Prince, Zahna Medley and Veja Hamilton did it in '15.
Okonkwo, who is shooting a league-best 90.2 percent from the free throw line, is the second TCU player to win a sixth man award. Grace Gantt earned the Conference USA award in 2002.
