Burned, dismembered body found at Lake Grapevine park

A burned, dismembered body was found at Acorn Woods Park near Lake Grapevine early Wednesday morning, police said.

Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Oak Grove Loop South at about 6:30 a.m., said Sgt. Robert Eberling, police spokesman. It was found in a wooded area about 30 yards off the road, he said.

Eberling would not say who found the body. The gender has not been confirmed by police, but it reportedly is possibly that of a Hispanic female.

He said police believe the killing was an isolated incident.

Investigators have been interviewing witnesses and Eberling said the FBI is assisting in the investigation because Grapevine police wanted to “utilize their resources.” He said FBI evidence technicians were on the scene.

The park is closed to the public while authorities investigate.

No further details were immediately available.
