Woman left dead in Garland home for two days, roommate arrested
A 60-year-old Garland man remained in custody Wednesday, a day after police found his roommate fatally stabbed in a residence.
Police believe that the stabbing occurred on Sunday in the 900 block of Meadowdale Circle, and that the woman’s body had been in the house for two days.
Police identified the suspect as Ryan Howell, who was in the Garland Jail.
The name of the woman had not been released pending notification of relatives.
Patrol officers responded to a report of a woman dead in the residence on Meadowdale Circle at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday. They received two 911 calls about the woman, one from Howell and the other from a neighbor.
Howell met police outside the home and told police that he had killed the woman, police Lt. Pedro Barineau said in a news release. After Howell was taken into custody, police entered the home and found the body.
Howell, the woman and another man, Jerry McGee, 55, lived in the residence, police said.
“We’re still trying to determine if McGee was involved or not because he apparently was in the house the entire time the body was there,” Barineau said.
Barineau said investigators are trying to determine whether McGee may have been restrained. He left the house on Tuesday and went to a neighbor, who called police, Barineau said.
McGee has not been charged. The investigation continued on Wednesday.
