Working on that six-pack: Another North Texas brewery moves toward beer in cans
You're about to see yet more six-packs of canned, North Texas-made beer on grocery- and liquor-store shelves.
Following a lead taken a few years ago by Fort Worth's Rahr & Sons Brewing Co., Granbury-based Revolver Brewing announced Tuesday that it will begin selling four of its beers, including the popular Blood & Honey American Ale, in cans.
"“Texas is a big, hot, outdoor-friendly state, and there are a lot of opportunities here where we think cans will go that bottles can’t,” Revolver Brewing co-founder Rhett Keisler says in a release, echoing something said by other brewers who have made the transition to more canned product. “Texans like cans — they’re the fastest-growing segment of the craft beer market. They’re lighter, easy to transport and very beer friendly."
And if you like glass, you can pour the beer into one.
Other Revolver brews getting the can treatment will be Long-Range Pils, a new German-style pilsner; Sidewinder Southwest Pale Ale; and Full-Tang IPA, a seasonal beer that now will be available year-round.
Keisler says in the release that Revolver will continue to offer Blood & Honey in bottles, but that the cans will allow the brewery to reach new locations in Texas.
Rahr began selling beer in cans in 2014, citing reasons similar to the Revolver move, and in 2017 began a move to put all its store product in cans. Fort Worth's Martin House Brewing Co. and Wild Acre Brewing Co., Keller's Shannon Brewing Co., Dallas' Deep Ellum Brewing Co. and Four Corners Brewing, and other North Texas breweries have made the can move, as has Dallas' Bishop Cider Co.
