USA Track and Field Half Marathon Championships joining Cowtown in 2021, 2023
The Cowtown Marathon will host the USA Track and Field Half Marathon Championships in 2021 and 2023.
It’s the first time the event has been held in North Texas. The USATF Half Marathon Championships determines the men’s and women’s national champion.
The half marathon runners will start before participants in the Cowtown Marathon on February 28, 2021. They’ll return for the championship on Feb. 26, 2023. The races begin and end in the museum district by Dickies Arena.
“By hosting the Half Marathon Championships in Texas, we will increase awareness within key markets of competitive athletes, health enthusiasts and sports media that our town is a healthy, active town,” said Cowtown Marathon executive director Heidi Swartz in a release. “It is our collective goal to bring energy and entertainment through sports to Fort Worth.”
This years Cowtown Marathon is set to start at 7 a.m. Sunday. A 10K, Adult 5K and Kids 5K ran Saturday.
The Fort Worth Sports Commission and the Cowtown Marathon partnered to help being the championships to the city.
