DeMarcus Lawrence addresses past comments on Cowboys as first Super Bowl looms
DeMarcus Lawrence is still answering for the controversial comments he made about the Dallas Cowboys after leaving them in 2025 to join the Seattle Seahawks .
For a refresher the defensive end said he left because knew he would not win a Super Bowl with the Cowboys.
“Dallas is my home,” Lawrence said. “Made my home there, my family lives there. I’m forever going to be there. But I know for sure I’m not going to win a Super Bowl there.”
Lawrence was asked about those comments on Tuesday as he and the Seahawks prepare to play the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LX.
“Just being real about the situation, understanding that football is not for long for any player, and understanding my window of opportunity is closing, and I don’t have long to play this game and I have to win now and just understood what Seattle was building up here, and just wanted to be apart,” Lawrence said.
Lawrence refused to speculate on why he wasn’t able to win, or even play in, a Super Bowl with the Cowboys.
“That’s something for them to find out,” said Lawrence, “I’m winning here, can’t win in two places.”
Lawrence’s Cowboys tenure was successful, Super Bowl appearances notwithstanding, and saw him make five Pro Bowls and an All-Pro selection in 11 years with the franchise.
Lawrence will get his chance to hoist the Lombardi Trophy when the Seahawks play the Patriots at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Seattle is a 4.5-point favorite.
