“Dallas is my home,” Lawrence said. “Made my home there, my family lives there. I’m forever going to be there. But I know for sure I’m not going to win a Super Bowl there.”
The comments went viral on X, with then-Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons saying Lawrence was jealous of him. Lawrence then criticized Parsons for his social media presence, starting a back and forth between the former teammates.
So why are these comments resurfacing now?
Because on Sunday, Lawrence and the Seahawks punched their ticket to the Super Bowl with a 31-27 win over the Los Angeles Rams. Now his comments seem prescient, as he did what the Cowboys have been unable to do for the past 30 years.
At the time of his comments, few thought the Seahawks would be Super Bowl contenders and many chided him, saying he wouldn’t get to one with Seattle either.
Lawrence has gotten the last laugh, though, as he has a chance to capture the first Super Bowl title of his career in his first year away from the Cowboys.
