Why did Stephen A. Smith say Dallas Cowboys fans’ misery was his ‘pleasure’

Stephen A. Smith was on “First Take” on Monday when he and was asked what the biggest mistake the Dallas Cowboys made this offseason.

He and gave two answers.

The first was the team’s lack of offseason signings which he blamed on team owner Jerry Jones.

“The first biggest mistake the organization made was Jerry Jones not doing anything in the offseason,” said Smith.

The second mistake according to Smith was giving Dak Prescott his four-year $240 million contract though he went out of his way to say the Mississippi State product was a good quarterback.

“The second thing was Dak Prescott, as far as I’m concerned, receiving what he’s receiving because you’re on the fast track to nowhere, said Smith, “Dak Prescott can ball, I’m being very very serious here. I know I love trolling Cowboys fans because their misery is my pleasure... but this is not the day for that. When you look at Dak Prescott I’m not in any way saying that he can’t play that he’s some scrub that he didn’t warrant what the market says he warranted, but he almost never stops the bleeding.”

Prescott has thrown for 1,978 yards with 11 touchdowns and eight interceptions this season while leading the Cowboys to a 3-4 record, which puts them in third place in the NFC East behind the Washington Commanders (7-2) and the Philadelphia Eagles (6-2).

Smith said the Cowboys’ entire team was responsible for the collapse and ultimately blamed Jones’ offseason plans, Prescott’s contract and not firing Mike McCarthy to hire Bill Belichick.
