Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott leaves game against Atlanta Falcons with injury
Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott was injured and forced to leave the game in the fourth quarter of the team’s game against the Atlanta Falcons.
Prescott was attended to by the team’s medical staff on the sideline looking at his right hand, which he received a cut on.
However, it was not his hand, but a hamstring injury that knocked Prescott out of the game. He was 18-of-24 for 133 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions before leaving the game.
“I felt it and didn’t think much of it, to be honest,” Prescott said. “The next play, throwing on it, I felt a pull or something I’ve never felt. It was tough to walk on at that point. I saw the medical team and asked could I make it worse? They said I wouldn’t be able to protect myself.”
At one point Prescott headed to the blue medical tent but returned to the bench, yet would still be replaced on the ensuing drive by backup quarterback Cooper Rush.
“It’s crazy that this happened on a normal tackle,” Prescott said. “I’m not even really sure which moment did it. Tough.”
Rush replaced him while the Cowboys were trailing the Falcons 27-13 with 11:08 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Prescott said that while practice this week is important, he can still prep for next week’s challenge against the Philadelphia Eagles if he misses time on the field back in Frisco.
“A lot of this game is mental, so I can get those reps,” Prescott said. “You saw Coop going in and giving us a chance, and he’s an example of that exactly...It’ll be important to test the hamstring. I look forward to doing everything in my power to heal this thing up, get some reps in practice and get out there next week.”
