Dallas Cowboys

Where was Zeke Elliott? Seldom has Dallas Cowboys back been so inconsequential.

It was one of the worst games of Ezekiel Elliott’s career with the Dallas Cowboys.

Elliott finished with 34 yards rushing on 14 attempts for an average of 2.4 yards a carry in the Cowboys’ 38-31 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.

The 34 yards are the third-fewest in his career and the 2.4-yard average the fifth lowest in his career.

Elliott did finish with six receptions for 24 yards, but 10 yards came on one catch. For much of the game, Dak Prescott’s desire to go to him on a screen netted few gains. Elliott was targeted 12 times and had at least three dropped passes.

In the first quarter, after Tony Pollard’s muffed catch on a kick pinned Dallas at its own 1, Elliott slipped in the backfield and was tackled for a safety.

“I was planning on cutting it back. The safety ended up blitzing so I had to kind of keep it front side,” Elliott said. “I think I just lost my footing. Yeah, I just got to be better on that play.”

Elliott made no excuses, especially on the dropped passes.

“I mean, it is a little difficult. But I’m a pro, it’s my job to go out there and get my job done no matter the circumstances,” he said. “So I just got to stay locked in, stay focused in and finish that play.”
