Vander Esch, Jarwin leave Dallas Cowboys’ season opener with possible long-term injuries

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Leighton Vander Esch left the team’s season opener Sunday night with a broken collar bone and did not return.

It’s a sad replay of previous neck injuries that have plagued Vander Esch since college. He missed seven games in 2019 after a neck injury and had surgery in January.

Vander Esch is expected to be out for a month to six weeks.

Tight end Blake Jarwin left the game with a knee injury right before halftime. He did not return to the game. Early reports indicated Jarwin tore his ACL, which would mean he’s out for the rest of the season.

Offensive lineman Cam Erving left the game in the second quarter with a knee injury. He also did not return to the game. His status has yet to be updated.
