Terrance Williams misses practice again, dealing with a range of off the field issues
Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrance Williams was absent from practice again Wednesday as he continues to work through a range of the field issues with the team approval, per coach Jason Garrett.
Williams missed practice Friday for personal reasons and didn’t attend Sunday’s 26-24 victory against the Detroit Lions with the team’s approval.
Williams returned for meetings Tuesday and was at the team headquarters Wednesday morning but he was not there for practice. Garrett said the team and Williams are on the same page with this because of his on-going off the field issues.
Per sources, Williams’ issues have nothing to do with a looming suspension from the NFL of up to four games for violating the league’s personal conduct policy.
Williams was arrested in Frisco last May for public intoxication, stemming from a car accident in which blue Lamborghini colluded with a light pole and he fled the scene.
The Cowboys’ patience with Williams has a lot to do with his health and fitness that may be impacting his play, per a source.
Williams missed the entire offseason with a fractured foot and was limited in training camp.
There is a thought process that the foot might not be fully healed.
He only has two catches for 18 yards through the first three games and was averaging less than 10 snaps a game before sitting out last Sunday against the Lions.
It was the first missed game of his career after 83 straight.
Williams is the team’s highest-paid receive with a $4.75 salary cap number and $3.8 million base salary in 2018.
