Cooper Flagg’s mom defends retweet about Mavericks GM Nico Harrison’s firing
As the fallout continues from the Dallas Mavericks’ firing of general manager Nico Harrison, Kelly Flagg, the mother of Mavs No. 1 overall draft pick Cooper Flagg, weighed in on X.
Flagg retweeted a post that said Harrison needed to be fired:
“Cooper Flagg should not have to listen to ‘Fire Nico’ chants when a teammate of his is at the free throw line with the game on the line. Nico Harrison will be a huge distraction and a stain on this franchise until he is fired. Get rid of him as soon as possible so we can all move forward.”
The tweet was picked up from the Athletic, which posted it on their X page, which prompted an explanation from Flagg.
“Retweet wasn’t about firing Nico,” Kelly Flagg posted. “It was about the fact that the fans were chanting during our free throws. Our guys had nothing to do with what went down. It’s done now so we all need to move on. Hopefully better days ahead.”
Her sentiment of hoping for better days ahead seems to be one shared by Mavs fans on social media, who were overjoyed at the firing of Harrison and saw it as a necessary first step to moving forward in the Flagg era.
