Luka Doncic is already an NBA star, and early returns indicate he’ll be an All-Star

Luka Doncic is already an NBA star in his second season.

Now it appears he’ll be an All-Star.

The league released its first All-Star Game voting returns and Doncic, the Dallas Mavericks’ guard and the NBA’s reigning Rookie of the Year, leads all players with 1,073,957 votes.

He’s ahead of Los Angeles Lakers teammates LeBron James (1,020,851) and Anthony Davis (955,246), who are the leaders among Western Conference frontcourt players. Doncic has a sizable lead on the rest of the Western Conference guards, including the Houston Rockets’ James Harden (749,080) and the Portland Trail Blazers’ Damian Lillard (202,498), who are currently in second and third place.

The Eastern Conference’s leader with 1,073,358 votes is Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo, the NBA’s Most Valuable Player last season.

Doncic missed the All-Star Game as a rookie but participated in the Rising Stars game and three-point shooting contest.

Fans can vote at NBA.com through Jan. 20. The All-Star Game is scheduled for February 16 at United Center in Chicago.
