Bay Area basketball fans paying big bucks to say goodbye to Dirk
Dirk Nowitzki is probably playing his last game against the Golden State Warriors Saturday night and Bay Area fans want to say goodbye.
The Dallas Mavericks legend, who turns 41 in June and is finishing up his 21st season in the NBA, is likely to retire in the off-season, although he officially has yet to announce his intentions.
NBA fans, however, have taken it upon themselves to salute Nowitzki when he an the Mavs have made their final visit to different cities around the league. Nowitzki just passed Wilt Chamberlain for sixth place in the all-time scoring list.
He has received appreciative ovations all across the country and it will be the Warriors fans chance at at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
Tickets aren’t cheap either. According to ticket resellers Stubhub.com and Tickpick.om, the Mavs-Warriors tickets are the most expensive tickets in the NBA this week. On Tickpick, the average ticket price for the game is $193. The cheapest seat on Tickpick, a ticket reseller with no added fees, is $135. That’s 44 percent more expensive than a ticket for the Warriors next game against the Pistons.
As of Friday afternoon, the best seat available on Tickpick.com was going for $1,038 in section 14, row 4A.
Stubhub has VIP courtside seats available for more than $3,000. The cheapest seat available on Stubhub is $111.15.
