Dallas Mavericks rookie Dennis Smith Jr. was selected to play in the Rising Stars game, as part of NBA All-Star weekend in Los Angeles.

Smith, who is among rookie leaders in points, assists, rebounds and steals, will play for the U.S. Team against the World Team at the Staples Center at 8 p.m. Feb. 16. TNT will telecast the game.

NBA assistant coaches selected the players for the Rising Stars rosters. They were required to vote for four frontcourt players, four guards and two additional players at either position, in order of preference, for each team. They were also required to vote for a minimum of three rookies and three sophomores for each team. This is the fourth season the teams were divided into U.S. and World.
