Check out Carlisle’s butt pass and Dirk’s finger spin with the Globetrotters
Rick Carlisle was known as solid, fundamentally sound ballplayer back in his day, but don’t think for a second it means he can’t get tricky with the leather now and then.
The Dallas Mavericks coach proved he’s still got ball skills when a couple members of the famed Harlem Globetrotters made a stop at the Mavs’ practice arena in preparation for two performances Saturday at the American Airlines Center.
Trotters players Handles Franklin and Ace Jackson got a first-hand look a number of Trotter-esque passes from the former Boston Celtics forward, including the ever-popular butt pass and the classic no-look elbow pass. Mavs forward Dwight Powell got in the act with Carlisle and the two Globetrotters during a sleight-of-hand passing circle.
Dirk Nowitzki and Mavs assistant coach God Shammgod took turns showing off their finger-spinning expertise.
The Globetrotters will perform at 2 p.m. and again at 7 p.m.
Tickets are available at HarlemGlobetrotters.com or through the American Airlines Center online ticket office.
