Texas Rangers cancel Fan Fest over inclement weather concerns

The Texas Rangers canceled Fan Fest on Saturday at Globe Life Field in response to expected inclement weather this weekend in Dallas-Fort Worth.

The region is under a winter storm watch and is expected to receive an arctic blast, which could be accompanied by moderate to heavy accumulation of snow, sleet or ice, per the National Weather Service.

Fan Fest would have featured a plethora of events for Rangers fans to interact with players and participate in other activities around the ballpark, including a baseball card show to celebrate the history of the sport; on-field activities, including a Wiffle ball home run derby; and team merchandise on sale at the team store in center field.

“Due to the weather forecast for frozen precipitation in North Texas this weekend, the Rangers have made the difficult decision to cancel Saturday’s Fan Fest event at Globe Life Field in the interest of safety for players, fans, and employees,” the team said in a statement. “All fans who purchased tickets for Fan Fest will be automatically refunded in full back to the method of payment they used to purchase tickets.”

Rangers chief business officer Jim Cochrane lamented the cancellation.

“It’s disappointing to miss these opportunities for our fans and players to connect this offseason,” he said in a statement. “After consulting with local weather experts, it was clear that this was the right decision. We will continue to seek opportunities to deliver for our fans, and we look forward to the start of the 2026 season.”

Winter Warm-up Week stops Friday and Sunday at Kroger stores around the Metroplex have also been canceled.
