Former Texas Rangers All-Star signs with Philadelphia Phillies in free agency
Adolis Garcia is the latest member of the Texas Rangers World Series team to leave the Lone Star State, with the outfielder signing a one-year, $10 million deal with the Philadelphia Phillies, according to reports from Francys Romero.
Garcia played the past six seasons of his career with the Rangers after getting his start with the St Louis Cardinals and became a fan favorite and one of the team’s best bats during his tenure, making two All-Star teams while also winning the Golden Glove.
Garcia also played a major role in the Rangers winning their first-ever World Series in 2023 and was dominant throughout the postseason, winning ALCS MVP, before getting hurt in the third game of the series.
The Cuban native struggled after winning the World Series, with his home runs, hits and RBIs all decreasing over the past two seasons. This year Garcia hit .227 with 19 home runs and 75 RBIs.
Garcia’s signing will probably signal the end of Nick Castellanos’ Phillies tenure, as it’s been rumored Philadelphia is shopping the Florida native.
