Rangers shortstop Elvis Andrus is expected to play in his first spring game later this week. Andrus has taken it slow early in camp after having sports hernia surgery on Nov. 1.

The 28-year-old is coming off his best season in the big leagues when he had a career-best .302 batting average and 69 RBIs.

Andrus ran the bases for the first time during Monday morning workouts. Andrus said he’s itching to get into a game.
