AT&T Byron Nelson lands commitments from six of the top 20 golfers in the world
The AT&T Byron Nelson has a loaded field lined up for next month’s tournament at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney.
Scottie Scheffler, the world’s top-ranked golfer who just won the Masters, is the headliner for the tournament scheduled May 12-15. Along with Scheffler, other early commits who are ranked in the top 20 include Dustin Johnson (No. 9), Sam Burns (10), Louis Oosthuizen (14), Brooks Koepka (16) and Jordan Spieth (20).
Scheffler finished tied for 46th at last year’s Nelson. He’s played in the event two other times, finishing tied for 35th in 2019 and tied for 22nd in 2014. The 2014 event marked his PGA Tour debut.
A couple of TCU products are set to play, too.
Former Frog J.J. Killeen, who played full-time on the PGA Tour in 2012, earned a spot by winning the NTPGA Section Championship. Killeen last played the Nelson in 2012, finishing tied for 63rd.
And Paul Barjon, who played at TCU from 2012-16, is in his first full season on the PGA Tour. He’s made five of 13 cuts with his best finish being 10th at The American Express in January.
Notable first-time players committed to the event include two-time Masters champion Bubba Watson, four-time European Tour winner Tommy Fleetwood and 2018 British Open champion Francesco Molinari.
K.H. Lee won last year’s tournament and is set to defend his title.
The field is subject to change and will be finalized on Friday, May 6. Tickets are available to purchase through the tournament’s website at attbyronnelson.org with general admission starting at $75 per tournament day.
