Dallas-Fort Worth 3-star all-purpose back staying at home with commitment to SMU

Fort Worth All Saints 2021 all-purpose back Montaye Dawson announced his commitment to SMU via Twitter on Saturday.

Dawson, a 3-star prospect, moved to All Saints in January after spending his first three seasons at Mansfield Timberview. He compiled over 2,800 total yards and 28 touchdowns with the Wolves, including 20 rushing TDs.

In 2018, he was one of three Wolves to rush for 1,000 yards (1,021) and scored eight TDs.

Dawson had 14 offers, which also included Arizona, Baylor, Colorado, Georgia Tech, Houston, Iowa State, Memphis, Nebraska, North Texas, Purdue, San Diego State, Texas Tech and Utah State.

Dawson is ranked as the No. 5 APB in the country, according to 247Sports and the 75th best player in the state.

He’s the third 2021 commit for SMU, which enjoyed its best season in over 30 years. He joins Dallas Parish Episcopal quarterback Preston Stone and Lubbock Coronado linebacker Izaiah Kelley.
