Southlake Carroll receiver, featured on SportsCenter’s top 10, commits to Minnesota

Class of 2021 Southlake Carroll wide receiver Brady Boyd announced his commitment to Minnesota via Twitter on Friday.

“I feel that the culture there is unreal and unmatched. Thinking about becoming apart of that program definitely excited me the most,” Boyd said.

The 3-star Boyd is a rising prospect, with 18 offers including 11 since the start of the 2019 season.

He also had offers from Oklahoma State, Kansas, UNT and Texas Tech, but the Gophers were his first offer in March 2019. That stuck out the most for Boyd.

“The relationship with the staff really made it known that I was the guy they wanted and I could really feel that coming from them,” he said. “I feel I have a great opportunity to play early.”

Boyd tripled his production from 2018 with 66 catches for a Dragons squad that went 13-1 and made an appearance in the Class 6A Division 1 state quarterfinals.

The Dragons lost to Duncanville, 49-35, but Boyd had a career-high 11 catches for a 123 yards and one touchdown.

Boyd finished third on the team in receptions (66), receiving yards (972) and TD catches (8). His best game came in the regional round against Midland Lee.

Boyd made nine catches for a career-high 169 yards and one TD. But it was his one-handed grab that caught the eyes of the nation. The play was good enough for No. 3 on SportsCenter’s Top 10.

Boyd’s production is expected to increase in 2020 as he’s the top returning wide receiver for Carroll. The Dragons also have the top recruit and best 2022 player in quarterback Quinn Ewers.
