Arlington Lamar dominates Fort Worth Trimble Tech from start to finish
Arlington Lamar left little doubt which was the better team was Thursday night as the Vikings defeated Fort Worth Trimble Tech 56-0 in a District 4-6A game at Scarbrough-Handley Field.
The Vikings (5-0, 2-0 4-6A) built a 42-0 lead at halftime and finished the game with 405 yards of offense on 30 plays. The Vikings averaged 13.5 yards per play.
Trimble Tech (1-4, 0-2) had trouble moving the ball against the Vikings. Their best opportunity to score came in the second quarter following an interception by Jaden Roberts. The Bulldogs’ drive was stopped the Vikings 13 but a 30-yard field goal was blocked.
Game was over when: The Vikings had a 14-0 lead less than three minutes into the game on consecutive touchdown passes from Jack Dawson to Cam Brady. The first scoring toss went for 54 yards and the second one was good for 15 yards.
Play of the game: Lamar wide receiver Isaiah Neyor hauled in a pass from Dawson and raced 52 yards for a score with 8:54 to play in the second quarter. The score gave the Vikings a 28-0 lead. It was Neyor’s second catch of the game and both went for touchdowns.
Offensive player of the game: Lamar quarterback Jack Dawson threw five touchdown passes in the first half. The junior completed 9 of 14 passes for 246 yards.
Defensive player of the game: The Vikings defense had a good night intercepting three passes. In the second quarter, Braxton Thomas nabbed a pass at the Tech 45 then weaved his through Bulldogs players on the way to the end zone.
Unsung hero of the game: Lamar’s offense ran 30 plays in the game and scored 56 points. The Vikings defense held Tech to 36 yards on 38 plays.
What’s next? Lamar plays Friday, Oct. 12 at North Crowley. Tech plays Fort Worth Paschal, Friday, Oct. 12 at Farrington Field.
