Parker and Flint help Heritage out-muscle Carrollton Newman Smith
Running back Alex Parker rushed for three scores and quarterback Trey Flint threw for two more as Colleyville Heritage defeated Carrollton Newman Smith, 47-7, on Friday.
The game, played at Southlake Carroll’s Dragon Stadium, saw Heritage put up 438 yards of total offense.
Heritage (2-2) got on the board first early as Flint found Kam Brown from four yards. The lead doubled quickly on the ensuing possession, as Flint had his second touchdown pass of the quarter, this time to Chad Turner from nine yards. Parker’s first score, a 23-yard rush, gave Heritage the 21-0 lead after the first quarter of play.
The second quarter was much of the same, as Parker found the end zone on a 30-yard run, to make it 28-0. Parker again put Heritage on the board with an 18-yard run, and with less than two minutes to go in the half, Heritage built a 35-0 lead. The scoring would continue though as running back Bruce Cobb scampered in from three yards, pushing the lead to 42-0 when the Heritage defense played a role. Shortly before the half, Carrollton Newman Smith (1-3) had the ball deep in their zone, when quarterback Dane McMahon was tackled for a safety at the halftime buzzer, and the deficit was 44-0.
The score remained the same until midway thru the third when backup kicker Jason Treese connected on a 19-yard field goal, where Heritage took a 47-0 lead into the final frame. In the fourth quarter, it was Newman Smith’s running back Jakobe Johnston’s 1-yard run that prevented the shutout, putting the final score at 47-7. On the night, the Heritage offense outgained Newman Smith, 438 to 108, in terms of total offense.
Game was over when: Alex Parker ran for two scores in five minutes, in the second quarter, giving Heritage a 35-0 lead.
Play of the game: Carrollton Newman Smith’s running back Jakob Johnson romped in from 1-yard out, to avoid the shutout.

Defensive player of the game: Timber Creek’s Gabe Jones earns the nod with an interception late in the third quarter that killed an Eaton drive in their zone.
Unsung hero of the game: The Colleyville Heritage defense gets the nod as they allowed less than 120 yards of total offense.
Stat of the Game: Carrollton Newman Smith was held to 108 total yards of offense on the night by a stout Colleyville Heritage defense.
