Highland Park's John Stephen Jones nearing college decision
With National Signing Day nine days away, where will Highland Park quarterback John Stephen Jones land?
According to the Dallas Morning News, Jones will decide next week between Arkansas, Texas Tech and SMU. The Jones family made a visit to Lubbock this weekend. Per 247Sports, Jones is set to visit Arkansas on Friday. National Signing Day is Feb. 7.

According to 247Sports, Arkansas is the favorite. His grandfather, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and father, Cowboys Executive Vice President and CEO Stephen Jones both graduated from the University of Arkansas.

Jones wrapped up his Scots career with back-to-back UIL Class 5A Division I state championships. In 2017, he threw for a UIL title-game record 564 yards and four touchdowns in a come-from-behind 53-49 victory over Manvel.
He finished the season with 5,200 total yards and 71 touchdowns. He was voted District 15-5A MVP, all-state honorable mention and won the 2017 Landry Award.
The Scots beat Temple 16-7 in 2016 to win their first football title since 2005.
