Mansfield Legacy star, Haltom and Lake Ridge coaches up for Landry Award
The Landry Award recognizes the top high school football player in North Texas who demonstrates positive character and leadership attributes.
Mansfield Legacy’s Jalen Catalon is one of the candidates. He joins McKinney running back Matthew Gadek, DeSoto cornerback Byron Hanspard, Highland Park quarterback John Stephen Jones and Denton Ryan quarterback Spencer Sanders.
Online public voting also accounts for one vote in the panel balloting. You can vote here
Last year, Mansfield running back Kennedy Brooks, now at Oklahoma, won the award.

Haltom coach Jason Tucker and Lake Ridge coach Kirk Thor are both up for the coach award along with Frisco Reedy’s Chad Cole, Coppell’s Mike DeWitt and Dallas Carter’s Patrick Williams.
Hebron’s Brian Brazil won last year. Legacy’s Chris Melson was also up for the award.

Winners will be announced Monday, December 11 at The Hope Center in Plano. The reception is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. with the award presentation to follow. Tickets to the reception are $25 per person. Admission to the 7 p.m. award presentation is free, but reservations are required.
