Former Lake Ridge quarterback Jett Duffey returns to Texas Tech after suspension
Texas Tech redshirt freshman and former Mansfield Lake Ridge standout Jett Duffey is back with the football program after serving his suspension that ended on Saturday, Red Raider Nation confirms.
Duffey was suspended for the spring and summer semesters after a Title IX hearing panel sided with a woman who alleged that Duffey had sex with her twice when she was too incapacitated to consent. The story was first reported by the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal.
However, a Lubbock grand jury decided there was not sufficient cause to criminally prosecute the case.
Duffey, who should compete for the backup role at Tech, led Lake Ridge to the Class 5A Division I state title game in Houston against George Ranch during the 2015 season.
He threw for 2,732 yards and 29 TDs to just five interceptions, and rushed for 1,703 yards and 20 TDs.
Duffey was named district MVP, Associated Press Class 5A Offensive MVP and the Star-Telegram super team offensive player of the year. He was also awarded The Landry Award.
