Cedar Hill romps in playoff opener over Waco Midway
Cedar Hill erased the memories of last year’s first round playoff defeat with an emphatic 52-17 victory Saturday at Waco Midway. The Longhorns, who ended the regular season ranked 10th in the final Associated Press state poll, advance to the Class 6A Division II Region I area playoffs where they will face Denton Guyer at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mansfield’s Newsom Stadium.
Key players: Cedar Hill quarterback Avery Davis, a Notre Dame commit, was 17-for-18 passing for 260 yards and four touchdowns. He also ran for 78 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Midway junior quarterback Tanner Mordecai threw for 236 yards and a TD in the loss.
