With its immediate playoff fate already in hand, Mansfield cruised through its regular-season finale, beating North Crowley 42-7 Friday at Panther Stadium. The Tigers scored four times in the opening quarter and then were able to shuffle starters and reserves from there while preparing for a first-round postseason game next week against Keller Fossil Ridge.
Key players: Playing its second consecutive week without running back and Oklahoma commit Kennedy Brooks, Mansfield spread the offense around more than normal. Avery Chatman started at tailback and tallied two early touchdowns.
Key stat: Mansfield’s first four drives — which all went for touchdowns — averaged a mere 54 seconds each en route to that 28-0 lead.
