Dunbar cruises past Polytechnic into playoffs
Fort Worth Dunbar solidified its playoff spot in District 8-5A by winning convincingly over Fort Worth Polytechnic 53-6 at Scarborough-Handley Field. Dunbar QB Leon’te Cooper scored three first half touchdowns to lead the way for the Wildcats, while Willie Evans scored another to post a 34-6 halftime lead. Evans also scored on the first series of the second half.
Key players: Cooper finished with 162 yards on 10 carries. Evans was strong in the second half and finished the night with 107 yards and two scores. Aaron Cooper came in late in the game and rushed for 114 yards for Dunbar.
Key stat: The Wildcats overcame 18 penalties for 150 yards while not having to punt during the game.
