Victory lands Wyatt in playoffs
Fort Worth Wyatt punched its playoff ticket Friday with a 28-21 District 7-5A win over Fort Worth Trimble Tech at Farrington Field. The Chaparrals rushed for 311 yards and also got a number of timely defensive stops after the contest became a one-score game throughout the second half. The postseason berth is the seventh in nine seasons for Wyatt.
Key players: Chaps quarterback Michael Franklin wasn’t finding much luck through the air, so he took advantage of his speed. In the second half, the junior ran for 123 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. He finished the game with 164 yards on the ground.
Key stat: The teams combined for 29 penalties. The Chaps were flagged 9 times for 164 yards, while Tech was whistled 10 times for 79 yards.
