Mansfield rumbles by Arlington Sam Houston to clinch playoff spot

While Kennedy Brooks did fumble on the first Mansfield possession of the fourth quarter, the area’s leading rusher made up for the miscue on the next possession with a 74-yard touchdown run. He finished with 19 carries for 299 yards and three scores to lead the Tigers in a 37-20 victory against Arlington Sam Houston in a District 4-6A game Thursday at Wilemon Field in Arlington. The victory clinched a playoff spot for Mansfield.

Key players: Mansfield wideout Saiid Adebo hauled in TD catches of 36 and 35 yards and finished with 109 yards. Texans QB Jacob Dollar passed for 148 yards and three scores and also rushed for 57 yards.

Key stat: Brooks averaged 15.7 yards per carry for Mansfield, which rushed for 391 yards.
