FW Wyatt subdues FW Southwest, enhances playoff chances

The Fort Worth Wyatt Chaparrals fortified their playoff position in District 7-5A with a 35-20 victory on Thursday over the Southwest Raiders, who were playing without their regular quarterback, Octavio Martinez. Wyatt will enter next week no worse than tied for second with Arlington Heights.

Key players: Wyatt QB Michael Franklin was steady, accounting for 283 total yards, including 109 on the ground and two TDs. Running back Deondrae Craver rushed for 82 yards and a score. TyQuandrik Conner covered a fumble for a TD for Wyatt’s first score and recovered another later in the first half.

Key stat: Southwest’s Rod Ford had a 90-yard kickoff return for a touchdown that got the Raiders within eight points with 4:37 left.
