Arlington Lamar standout three-star class of 2027 linebacker Braylon Williams announced his commitment to SMU Saturday.

He has offers from a flurry of Division I programs, including Baylor, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and more. He has a 6-foot-2, 220 pound frame.

As a junior, Williams recorded 101 tackles, 13 tackles for a loss and five sacks, earning First Team All-Area honors. He also had an interception and a fumble recovery.

Williams spent time on both sides of the ball, rushing for two touchdowns on the season.

He’ll lead a new era at Lamar High School, with former head coach Billy Skinner departing to become Grapevine-Colleyville ISD’s athletic director. Defensive coordinator Zach Najarro was promoted to head football coach.

In 2025, Lamar made the playoffs for the first time since 2019, and in 2026, the Vikings are set to return a solid group of experienced and productive athletes.
