Fort Worth-area Class 6A track and field: See state meet qualifiers
The UIL track and field Class 6A regional finals concluded Saturday.
See the Fort Worth-area athletes who qualified for the state championship meet at Mike A. Myers Track and Soccer Stadium in Austin from May 14-16. The Class 6A Region One Meet took place at the University of Texas at Arlington.
The top two finishers in each event qualify for state. Third-place finishers may advance with a wildcard selection, which is awarded to the third place finisher in any region with the best time.
Class 6A Boys
Team Results: Byron Nelson came in first (81 points), Mansfield Lake Ridge came in second (47) and Mansfield placed third (40).
100 Meters: Macavion Hill of Byron Nelson won in 10.43. Folaramni Oyalami of Mansfield qualified second in 10.54.
200 Meters: Jayden Gillison of Byron Nelson qualified second in 21.02. Oyalami came in third in 21.12.
400 Meters: Rashid Green-Bowen of North Crowley qualified second in 48.42.
800 Meters: Lincoln Wright of Mansfield Legacy won in 1:51.14. Fletcher Draper of Keller Central qualified second in 1:51.99. Claudio Auns of Southlake Carroll finished third in 1:52.43.
1600 Meters: Caden Leonard of Southlake Carroll won in 4:05.04. Anthony Abeyta of Keller qualified second in 4:08.72.
3200 Meters: Leonard won in 8:45.14, setting the Texas state record.
110 Hurdles: Nick Foster of Mansfield Lake Ridge came in second in 13.78. Chayce Davis of Euless Trinity placed third in 13.79.
300 Hurdles: Davis won in 36.70.
4x100 Relay: Byron Nelson won in 40.30 (Mahamadou Siby, Macavion Hill, Jayden Frye, Jayden Gillison). Mansfield qualified second in 40.94 (Nathaniel Johnson, Folaramni Oyalami, Saadel Davis, Zion Robinson). Keller Central finished third in 40.95 (Amari Granville, Jeremiah Taylor, Falon Brown, Isaiah Taylor).
4x200 Relay: Mansfield Lake Ridge qualified second in 1:24.48 (Chayse Osborne, Caleb Johnson, Markeis Smith, Jordan Byles). Byron Nelson finished third in 1:24.92 (Justin Thomas, Jayden Frye, Ja’Qori Haggerty, Jayden Gillison).
4x400 Relay: Mansfield Lake Ridge won in 3:13.19 (Cody Curtis, Tylen Hockett, Jace Perry, Reef Warsop). Crowley qualified second in 3:14.62 (Amari Bartee, Vincent James, Tylour Dudley, Carson Caldwell). North Crowley finished third in 3:15.00 (Rashid Green-Bowen, Demitrez Fails, Clinton Sprauve III, Nathan Butler-Bryant).
Discus: Landon Crawford of Byron Nelson qualified second at 175-03. Kaden Bram of Eaton finished third at 170-06.
High Jump: Zion Robinson of Mansfield and Caleb Adom of Euless Trinity tied at 6-11.00. Robinson, a four-star Stanford signee, came in first with fewer misses.
Long Jump: Kevin Grant of Arlington Martin won at 23-04.00. Jayden Frye of Byron Nelson qualified second at 23-03.50. Justin Thomas of Byron Nelson finished third at 23-02.75.
Triple Jump: Caleb Adom of Euless Trinity won at 50-02.25. Jacob Anthony of LD Bell qualified second at 47-10.50.
Class 6A Girls
Team Results: Coppell came in first place (70 points). Keller Timber Creek was the best-performing Fort Worth-area team (61 points) and earned a second-place finish.
100 Meters: Caitlyn Cavitt of Arlington Martin won in 11.58. Zariah Berry, also of Arlington Martin, finished third in 11.69.
100 Meters Wheelchair: Delia Bass of Arlington Lamar won in 24.71.
200 Meters: Lashonda Reeves of Keller Timber Creek came in second in 23.90.
400 Meters Wheelchair: Bass won in 1:37.20.
800 Meters: Grace McIlvain of Southlake Carroll won in 2:10.11.
3200 Meters: Luna Gutierrez of Southlake Carroll came in second in 10:36.86.
Shot Put Wheelchair: Bass qualified second at 11-04.75.
4x100 Relay: Mansfield Lake Ridge qualified second in 45.98 (Kendall Lewis, Aaliyah Allen, Makaila Young, Morgan McFrazier).
4x200 Relay: Keller Timber Creek won in 1:36.61 (Kiyana Hooks, Lashonda Reeves, Nia Walker, Leila Johnson). Mansfield qualified second in 1:38.06 (Jada Wheeler, Tori Brown, Alexa Culclager, Seron Alex). Mansfield Lake Ridge finished third in 1:38.09 (Aaliyah Allen, Gabrielle Moore, Makaila Young, Kendall Lewis).
4x400 Relay: Keller Timber Creek qualified second in 3:41.98 (Lashonda Reeves, Kiyana Hooks, Leila Johnson, Naya Rasmussen).
High Jump: T’Landria Williams of Mansfield Lake Ridge won at 5-09.00. Zahria Feist of Keller Timber Creek qualified second at 5-08.00.
Long Jump: Cavitt won at 19-07.00 and will have a chance to defend her state title. Levariya Pinder of Northwest qualified second at 19-04.25.
Triple Jump: Chloe Franks of Southlake Carroll came in first at 38-03.75. Lilli Faubion of Eaton placed second at 38-00.75.
