Week 4 of the Texas high school football season is here.

Here are five of the top Fort Worth-area storylines for Friday’s games:

An intense rivalry: Carroll vs. Trinity

On the heels of a 52-3 statement victory over Byron Nelson, top-ranked Southlake Carroll has another test Friday: No. 8 Euless Trinity.

The Dragons will host the Trojans at 7 p.m. at Dragon Stadium in a highly anticipated Texas high school football rivalry game. The battle between state-ranked squads is arguably the regular-season game of the year in the Fort Worth area.

Last season, Carroll defeated Trinity 56-48 in a back-and-forth thriller.

Although it’s only week two of District 4-6A play, the battle will likely decide the district championship.

One key player to watch is Southlake Carroll wide receiver Brock Boyd, the Star-Telegram’s Preseason Player of the Year and an Ohio State pledge. He had 93 yards and two touchdowns against Byron Nelson.

For Trinity, expect running back JT Harris to steal the show. In 2024, he earned All-Area honorable mention. In his last game against Keller Central, Harris rushed for 107 yards and two scores.

L.D. Bell, Keller look to take next step

For teams like Keller and L.D. Bell that have a shot at a District 4-6A playoff appearance, every win matters.

Top programs such as Carroll and Trinity are tough to beat, so it’s important to maximize every other opportunity. Bell will host Keller at Pennington Field at 7 p.m. Friday.

Bell hasn’t made the playoffs since 2013, so its 3-0 start is a massive step in the right direction. The Blue Raiders will be eager to keep building momentum. Keller is coming off a thrilling overtime victory over Justin Northwest.

The Indians narrowly missed the playoffs in 2024 and are in a prime position to get back in the postseason hunt.

Two top 5A teams to clash

Colleyville Heritage and Mansfield Timberview have proven to be tough competitors in District 3-5A Division II.

The Panthers started district play on the right foot with a massive 73-7 victory over The Colony. After putting up 11 points in Week 1, Heritage showcased its still an offensive force to be reckoned with.

Timberview is coming off losses to Denton Ryan and Argyle. Despite the 1-2 record, the Wolves have showcased an ability to compete with championship contenders.

Heritage and Timberview will clash at 7 p.m. Friday at Newsom Stadium in Mansfield.

Can Lake Ridge stay undefeated?

Lake Ridge won only one game last season.

But so far this season, the Eagles have looked like a completely different program. Lake Ridge is 3-0, with wins over Reedy, Haltom and Richardson.

In Week 4, Lake Ridge plays at North Forney at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

One player to watch is quarterback Deshawn Edwards, a Week 3 Player of the Week nominee. He had 341 yards and four touchdowns last week.

Can Paschal stay undefeated?

After a bye in Week 3, Paschal is looking to stay undefeated while starting District 4-5A Division I play.

The Panthers, a contender for the district title, will face North Side at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Farrington Field. In 2024, Paschal snapped a 28-year playoff drought.

Now, the program is aiming to make the postseason an annual trip. Quarterback Jashaun Thomas had a strong start, accounting for five touchdowns in two games. He is a threat to run, averaging 60 rushing yards per game.
