TCU’s 2026 recruiting class took a hit on Tuesday, April 15, when Southlake Carroll four-star wide receiver Brock Boyd flipped his commitment to Ohio State.

Boyd committed to TCU in July of 2024 and, since then, has seen his recruiting stock skyrocket. Boyd led Southlake Carroll to the Class 6A Division II state championship, averaging 116.75 yards per game.

He notched a team-high 20 touchdowns en route to Star-Telelgram All-Area Super Team First Team honors in his junior season. Boyd was named a MaxPreps junior All-American and the District 4-6A Offensive Player of the Year.

In the state title game, Boyd posted 178 yards on 13 catches, tying the record for the second most receptions in a 6A championship

Boyd is 247Sports’ No. 89 player in Texas and No. 106 wide receiver in the nation. He has 33 offers, which include Oregon, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, Baylor, and SMU.

With Boyd’s decommitment, Arlington Martin’s Jesse Ford is the sole player from the Fort Worth-area committed to the Horned Frogs’ 2026 class.

Ohio State has two other receivers in its 2026 class: Mater Dei four-star Chris Henry Jr. and Watkins Memorial four-star Jaeden Ricketts. The Buckeyes have the second-rated 2026 class, according to 247Sports.

Boyd will arguably be the premier class of 2026 skill player in Tarrant County. He’ll return to a Southlake Carroll offense that includes 2026 quarterback Angelo Renda, a Pittsburgh commit, and running back Davis Penn, an uncommitted top prospect.
