Here are 10 Fort Worth-area high school football players to watch in Week 3

Week 3 of the Texas high school football season starts Thursday and expect more great performances from Fort Worth-area football players.

Keep an eye out for these 10 players this week:

RJ Bunnell, Sr., RB, Argyle: The No. 1 team in the state in Class 5A Division 2 rushed for nearly 550 yards in its Week 2 win over Lucas Lovejoy. On top the chart was Bunnell, who had 193 yards on the ground and four touchdowns. Through two games, Bunnell has 347 yards and six touchdowns while averaging 7 1/2 yards per carry. The Eagles visit Grapevine on Friday.

Enow Etta, Sr., DE, Colleyville Covenant: The 4-star Michigan State commit is not only the top-ranked defensive lineman in the area, but he’s also the second best athlete in this year’s Top 100. Etta is up to 24 tackles, six for loss, four sacks and four fumble recoveries this season. Covenant looks for its first win when it takes on Weatherford Christian. In last year’s 43-42 overtime loss, Etta had 17 tackles, five for loss and three sacks.

Sawyer Farr, Jr., QB, Boswell: Farr had a field day last week against Mansfield Lake Ridge (the Pioneers won 41-20). The Texas A&M baseball commit showed off his arm with 388 yards passing and five touchdowns. He connected twice to two different receivers Gage Ellis and Kairel Robertson. In two games, Farr has 558 yards and eight touchdowns. Boswell can go to 3-0 with a win against Haltom.

Javien Toviano, Sr., CB, Arlington Martin: The top-ranked Fort Worth-area player and the Warriors host Allen in a big state-ranked showdown. Toviano has 14 tackles, a fumble recovery and one interception this season. He may not get thrown to much, but whenever he’s on the field, he’s a difference maker.

Trey Wilson, Sr., LB/DL, LD Bell: Wilson has been a menace on the Blue Raiders’ D with 30 tackles, seven for loss, four sacks and four QB hurries in two games. Bell is 2-0 for the first time since 2013 and looks to go to 3-0 for the first time since 2012 when it travels to Arlington Sam Houston.

Poasa Utu, Sr., LB/DL, Kennedale: The Wildcats visit Denison, a week after taking down Alvarado. A big reason for the win, was their defense, led by 4-star Utu (Oklahoma State commit). Utu made 14 tackles, seven for loss, had one sack and a 66-yard fumble return for a touchdown.

Jose Garcia, Jr., RB, Mineral Wells: How about two 300-yard rushing games to start the season? Garcia set a school record with 392 yards last week against Fort Worth Western Hills, and he scored five touchdowns. According to MaxPreps, his 712 yards on the ground is No. 1 in Texas and No. 10 in the nation. Can he crack the 1,000-yard mark through Week 3 when the Rams face Benbrook? We say yes.

Owen Allen, Sr., RB, Southlake Carroll: Allen, the No. 1 ranked running back in the Fort Worth-area, rushed for 213 yards and two touchdowns in Carroll’s win over Flower Mound Marcus. He’s averaging 8 1/2 yards per rush and has six touchdowns. According to MaxPreps, Allen has 5,790 yards rushing and 89 touchdowns in his career. He looks to add to that total when Carroll hosts Cedar Hill.

Anthony Crenshaw Jr., Sr., DB, Arlington Martin: Crenshaw had a monster Week 2 against Cedar Hill. Don’t throw it in Toviano’s direction, then someone else will step up and that was Crenshaw. Against Cedar Hill, he made nine tackles, had one forced fumble, made two interceptions and returned one for a touchdown.

Jaedon Langley, Jr., DE, Boswell: The Lake Ridge offensive line didn’t have an answer for Langley during last week’s game. Langley, who has offers from SMU and Texas Tech, had eight total tackles and five sacks. What can he do against Haltom?
