Girls

Wrestler of the Year

Bayley Trang, Jr., Southlake Carroll

Won second straight state championship with 10-3 decision in title match of 110 pound weight class. Trang finished the season 44-2 overall and didn’t drop a single match in three postseason tournaments.

Trang was district champ and regional champ as well.

The junior led the way for the Dragons, helping the team to second in team standings at 6A Region 1 tournament and fourth place at state.

Won six of eight matches by pin fall between regional and state meets.

Co-Teams of the Year

Euless Trinity and Azle

The Trojans and Hornets both finished with championship trophies at the 6A Region 1 and 5A Region 1 tournaments respectively. Trinity won regional with 134 points, 23 more than second place Southlake Carroll.

Trinity placed two at the 6A state tournament.

Azle won regional with 133 points and edged out second place Canyon Randall by two.

The Hornets placed four at state, including one state champ.

Both programs took home second place team trophies at the state tourney.

Coach of the Year

Travis Clark, Euless Trinity

Clark coached the Trojans to the 6A Region 1 championship, the toughest region in Texas, for the third straight season. Trinity had five wrestlers qualify for the 6A state tournament where two Trojans finished in the Top 3.

The Trojans wrapped up the season in a tie for second place in the 6A team standings at state.

Clark was voted coach of the year at the regional meet.

First Team

95 Alana Lee, Jr., Boswell: Won district, regional and came in second place at 6A state tournament.

102 Valerie Fuentes, Arlington Seguin: First place at district, regional and won four matches at 5A state meet for third place finish.

110 Bayley Trang, Jr., Southlake Carroll: 2022 all-area Wrestler of the Year.

119 Neelie Parker, Soph., Eaton: Wrapped up a 44-6 season with a 6A state runner-up finish for the Eagles.

128 Rebecca Natvig, Sr., Southlake Carroll: Came in fourth place at state tourney and finished 46-9 overall. Went second at regional meet.

138 Hailey Tucker, Sr., Haltom: Second straight season with regional title and Top 3 finish at state (second place this season). Won 45 matches.

148 Annabelle Davis, Fr., Azle: Finished with a 45-6 record with second place at 5A state tournament. Earned two pin falls at state.

165 Pella LeFever, Jr., Azle: Capped off a 44-win season with the 5A state championship, helping Hornets to team runner-up trophy. Won four matches at state, including three decisions by combined score of 25-3.

185 Shenita Lawson, Sr., Euless Trinity: Went to championship match in all three postseason tournaments, winning at district and regional. Came in second at state to finish 53-2.

215 Trinity Washko, Jr., Justin Northwest: 5A Region 2 champ won twice at state meet to finish season with 54 wins.

Second Team

95 Isabella Cruz, Sr., Euless Trinity: 52-3 record, second at regional and third at state after winning five consolation matches.

102 Emma Graves, Soph., Justin Northwest, Won 11 postseason matches, including two at state. 32-19 overall. First at district, third at regional.

110 Mariah Dillard, Fr., Azle: Finished 5A state runner-up with two pin falls and a major decision during first high school season.

119 Alyssa Ruiz, Jr., Byron Nelson: 36-5 overall with a third place medal at state. Won at regional and reached the state semis.

128 Kaylynn Lairson, Soph., Arlington Lamar: 39 wins on the season with a state tournament berth. Finished third at regional.

138 Alicen Dillard, Sr., Azle: Came in second place at state with three pin falls into championship match. Won the regional title.

148 Azana King, Jr., Euless Trinity: The 6A Region 1 runner-up went to the state quarterfinals, won two matches at state and finished with 46 wins.

165 Faith Macharia, Jr., Keller Central: Won over 30 matches and finished in third at state and runner-up at regional tourney.

185 Morgan Senior, Sr., Arlington Bowie: Won five consolation matches at state to finish third. Runner-up at regional meet.

215 Perla Rodriguez, Sr., Weatherford: Only state qualifier for Lady Roos went second at district tournament and third at regional.
